Up North is a comment on Canadian identity and the community created in gazing up at the Northern Lights. The lights are a trademark of our northern country, and though we all have culturally diverse backgrounds, we can all appreciate the fleeting colourful spectacle that dances in the sky. The piece attempts to evoke a reminiscent feeling of seeing the Northern Lights by bringing a colourful contemporary interpretation to the urban viewer. Its intent is to create experience and community while viewers gaze up at the ephemeral piece as it dances in the wind.
